Barcelona summer signing Anthony Gordon reveals excitement ahead of first El Clasico: ‘Every child dreams…’ Barcelona are preparing for an important El Clasico game against Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou later today. As many as eight Barça players could be in contention to make their debut in this marquee fixture. Among them is summer arrival Anthony Gordon, who has opened up about his first few months at the club. Gordon reflects on Barcelona’s historic start and PSG setback As quoted by Diario AS , the England international described Sunday’s encounter as the biggest fixture in football. “This is the most important match in football. The two biggest teams on the planet,” Gordon said. “I’ve watched these matches since I was little. Every child dreams of playing in this game.” Anthony Gordon has adapted seamlessly in Blaugrana colors. The defeat against PSG was difficult, and I felt they were physically better than us.” However, Gordon suggested that Barcelona’s preparations had also been affected and were not ideal going into the game. “We had a very difficult flight and things that people don’t know about.” The Englishman also admitted that his quick adaptation has been somewhat unexpected. “Nothing about Barcelona has surprised me, perhaps the difference between La Liga and the Premier League. I’ve started well, which is quite unusual for me,” he added. Gordon expects a competitive El Clasico Turning his attention to Madrid, Gordon acknowledged the strength of Jose Mourinho’s squad. “Real Madrid spent a lot in the summer. I expect a very competitive match. They have a great squad.” For Barcelona and Hansi Flick, Gordon’s early impact has been very encouraging , and his adaptation has been seamless. It remains to be seen how Gordon fares against Real Madrid. However, the PSG defeat also highlighted the need to maintain physical intensity throughout major encounters. The Englishman himself did not have the greatest of individual performances in the French capital and will be hoping to bounce back in style against Madrid. It does look like the 25-year-old has dreamt of playing in a fixture like El Clasico for quite some time now. It remains to be seen how Gordon fares on the night and whether he is able to put in an impressive display against Jose Mourinho’s team.
