Official: Barcelona confirm injury to 19-year-old forward; out for eight weeks Barcelona have confirmed that academy forward Shane Kluivert will spend approximately eight weeks on the sidelines after suffering a biceps femoris injury in his left leg.  The 19-year-old, son of former Barça striker Patrick Kluivert, has been ruled out during a season in which he has continued to develop within the club’s youth system and attract attention from Hansi Flick. The injury is a strong setback for the Dutch winger, who featured in Barcelona’s pre-season preparations and has also played for Juvenil A in the UEFA Youth League.  Understandably, he was unavailable for Sunday afternoon’s match in Olot. Barcelona confirm eight-week absence for Shane Kluivert Barcelona announced the diagnosis in an official medical statement, confirming the nature of the injury and the expected recovery period. “Player Shane Kluivert has a biceps femoris injury in his left leg. The approximate time out is eight weeks.” The biceps femoris is part of the hamstring muscle group, which plays an important role in sprinting and changes of direction.  An injury in that area is particularly disruptive for a winger whose game depends on acceleration and movement in attacking situations. Kluivert had earned opportunities to train with Flick’s first team during pre-season, giving him valuable exposure to the senior setup.  Although he has yet to make his competitive debut for Barcelona’s first team, his versatility across the forward line has helped him establish himself within the club’s development pathway. Injury adds to Barcelona’s growing academy concerns Kluivert’s absence comes shortly after goalkeeper Eder Aller underwent surgery for a right hip injury. Aller is expected to miss four months, adding another significant setback for Barcelona’s youth ranks. After a relatively quiet start to the campaign on the injury front, the latest developments have renewed concerns about availability across the club’s developmental teams.  For Barça Atlètic and the academy sides, losing players for extended periods can disrupt both selection plans and individual progress. Kluivert’s recovery will now take priority, with his return depending on how he responds to rehabilitation and the club’s medical assessment.
