Lyon midfielder Pavel Šulc to be sidelined for four months with a meniscus injury
Lyon midfielder Pavel Šulc to be sidelined for four months with a meniscus injury Olympique Lyonnais’ Pavel Šulc (25) has suffered a meniscus injury to his right knee, the Rhône-based club confirmed on Sunday. Having picked up the injury during a training session ahead of OL’s away match against TSG Hoffenheim in the Europa League (3-0) last Thursday, the Czech midfielder is set to undergo surgery and “is expected to be sidelined for around four months” , according to the medical statement. Having been sidelined since the start of the season, Šulc will therefore be out of action until the end of February, or even early March 2027. This is a major blow for Les Gones, who will also have to do without Loïs Openda (26) – who suffered a fractured fibula against RC Lens (2-1) in early October – for several more weeks. Having made 10 appearances (five as a starter) for Lyon since the start of the season, Šulc has proved decisive on five occasions across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
