Newcastle United sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Kelly on emergency loan

Newcastle United sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Kelly on emergency loan Newcastle United have completed the signing of Aston Villa goalkeeper Soffia Kelly on an emergency loan deal. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Magpies earlier today. The 19-year-old Barry-born stopper has joined Newcastle United on a deal which will run for the next two weeks. The youngster has been brought in as cover for injured goalkeeper Anna Tamminen. Kelly was an unused substitute as The Magpies drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest at The City Ground this afternoon. Kelly came through the Aston Villa academy pathway and she became the first player to graduate and sign professional terms with the club in March 2025. The player has been named in the first team squad on a handful of occasions but she is yet to make her senior debut for The Villans. Kelly also spent time on loan at Scottish Women’s Premier League club Rangers in the second half of last season. On the international stage, Kelly has been called up to the Wales squad but she is still awaiting her senior debut for The Red Dragons. Kelly could be involved in the Newcastle United squad again when they face Durham in the Subway Players Cup next weekend.
