Manchester City owners provide another €23m to Lommel
Manchester City owners provide another €23m to Lommel Manchester City’s owners have provided a capital investment of around €23m into Lommel . As reported by HLN , the owners of Manchester City have now invested nearly €100m over the last six years. Lommel are part of the wider City Group and won promotion to the top flight of Belgian football last season. Under former Hibs and Bristol City manager Lee Johnson the side have had a decent start to their top flight campaign, with three wins, three draws and three defeats from their first nine games. Many expected that Lommel, despite their relationship with Manchester City, would struggle to remain in the Pro League this season. So far that hasn’t been the case, although they have only won one of their last five games and face Gent next. This capital injection from Manchester City’s owners also raises further questions about what will happen to the clubs that make up the City Group should the Premier League punish the club harshly for breaching rules. No disrespect to Lommel, but they are hardly considered one of the top sides in the group and so far none of the players that have joined via the City Group networks have played for Manchester City. This recent move should allay the fears of fans in the short term, but it is a reminder of how intwined Lommel are with Manchester City and the City Group should circumstances change drastically.
