Colin Coosemans defends Vitor Bruno as the best Anderlecht coach since Vincent Kompany
Colin Coosemans defends Vitor Bruno as the best Anderlecht coach since Vincent Kompany Vitor Bruno isn’t enjoying the best of starts to his time in charge of Anderlecht . The former Porto head coach lost 4-0 at the weekend to Gent to make it two wins from five games. In those last five games, the side were knocked out of the cup by second tier side Beerschot and lost 1-0 to Dinamo Zagreb. Yet prior to that defeat to Gent, Anderlecht had won three in a row in the league and sit in fifth place. Bruno is under pressure that is for sure, but his players appear to have his back. Speaking to the media after the defeat to Gent, goalkeeper Colin Coosemans compared Bruno to a fan favourite, Vincent Kompany. Coosemans said ‘ Since Vincent Kompany’s departure, he is perhaps the best coach we have had here at Anderlecht ‘. Some Anderlecht fans may argue that, while that may be the case, the standard hasn’t been too high in recent years. Brian Riemer had the most success out of those that came following Kompany’s departure to Burnley, but the rest struggled at a club that has lost its way in recent years. Anderlecht face Westerlo at home on Halloween. Defeat could spook the board into making a decision that see’s Bruno out of a job. With Westerlo having been resurgent in recent weeks, it is perhaps the worst time to play the side. Anderlecht were poor against Gent and Bruno will be desperate to get back to the training ground and try to fix what were obvious errors this past weekend. GBeNeFN | Ben Jackson
