Ambrosini advises Camarda to look at Tresoldi: ‘Needs to play somewhere more realistic’

Ambrosini advises Camarda to look at Tresoldi: ‘Needs to play somewhere more realistic’ Former Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini has advised teenage talent Francesco Camarda to look at Nicolo Tresoldi and the success he has found playing in Belgium for Club Brugge, and has implored him to go and play ‘somewhere more realistic’. Camarda, 18, has often been tipped as the next big thing in Italian football after making a name for himself in the Milan youth ranks, where he scored a staggering 485 goals in just 89 matches across the age groups. Handed his senior Milan debut by Stefano Pioli back in 2023, Camarda is the youngest player to ever feature in Serie A at 15 years and 260 days old. Since then, he has spent one season on loan with Lecce, which brought his first Serie A goal last season, but did not help much in terms of regular first-team opportunities. He made 21 appearances for Lecce in Serie A last term, but only seven as a starter. It has, however, proved difficult for him to earn opportunities ahead of club-record signing Goncalo Ramos, and now, it appears that Alphadjo Cisse is also preferred to Camarda at centre-forward. As things stand, Camarda has played for just nine minutes in Serie A this season, split across three cameo appearances off the bench. Ambrosini suggests Camarda should follow Tresoldi and move abroad FERRARA, ITALY – NOVEMBER 15: Italy U21 head delegation Massimo Ambrosini looks on before the International friendly match between Italy U21 and England U21 on November 15, 2018 in Ferrara, Italy. (Photo by Alessandro Sabattini/Getty Images) Former Milan midfielder Ambrosini discussed Camarda’s prospects during DAZN’s coverage of Milan’s 2-0 victory over Udinese on Sunday evening, a game that saw Camarda introduced in the 90th minute. He drew a comparison to Tresoldi, who has scored three hat-tricks over the last 26 days with Club Brugge and the Germany U21s, including one against Inter in the Champions League. Ambrosini feels that perhaps a temporary move abroad might be just what Camarda needs. “When I look at Tresoldi, Camarda comes to mind. He needs a certain level of experience. For me, Tresoldi isn’t a ‘champion’, but he could become one. He looks much better than Camarda, who should go and play somewhere more realistic, like Brugge, and have a different experience,” said Ambrosini (via Calciomercato ). (Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images) “For me, this year, he didn’t have to stay, he needed to go out an play. Not necessarily in Italy, maybe even abroad. At Milan, you know that Goncalo Ramos is going to play 80% of the games. And, when there is an opportunity and they don’t give you a role, it all starts to become clear. “He hasn’t really played for two years, he’s played one game in the Europa League for Milan. If I were a friend of his, I would have told him to go and see if there was a team in Belgium or the Netherlands that plates in a certain way. “He needs to gain confidence, grow, and become used to playing 30 high-level matches a season. Go and play. Then, if Milan believe in you, they will keep you and you come back as a different person. If you stay there, they’ll call you Ramos’s understudy and will only let you play in the Europa League, maybe the occasional one in the league.”
