From bad to worse for Liverpool playmaker: Termination of deal discussed From bad to worse for Harvey Elliott The 23-year-old joined Valencia in the Spanish top flight in the closing stages of the summer transfer window. Nonetheless the England under-21 legend risks a second wasted loan season in a row. It was reported in the Spanish press last week that Liverpool and Valencia had convened a meeting over Elliott and how he was being used by Los Che head coach Javier Aguirre. Elliott has so far started ZERO La Liga matches and has failed to pull up any trees with ZERO goals and ZERO assists delivered. Last week’s meeting concerned the playmaker’s work off the ball. And it was suggested that should he not get into the manager’s good books on that front that a return to Anfield in January could be on the cards. Elliott's bizarre red card woes Worse followed over the weeken d. Elliott was introduced as a late substitute in a hotly contested local derby against Villarreal. He only lasted around 9 minutes however before a bizarre double yellow card saw him dismissed for insulting the matchday referee. It has infuriated the Valencia head coach with Elliott putting out an apology over social media. Now however Fichajes is reporting that things are going from bad to worse for the left-footer - who can play midfield as well as right wing. Elliott could now return to Liverpool “The English attacking midfielder could return to Liverpool in January, after his loan spell at Valencia failed to work out,” a report reads. “Both clubs had asked him to increase his involvement off the ball and to make better decisions when in possession. “Any early termination would depend on further discussions between the parties and the agreed-upon terms of the transfer. “If he continues to be sidelined and fails to meet the agreed-upon standards, Liverpool and Valencia will have to reassess his future before the end of the season.” Elliott is under contract at Anfield until 2028 per James Pearce in the Athletic and the club will have another opportunity to sell him on should he return to Anfield with his tail between his legs. Last season the former Fulham youth joined Aston Villa on loan in the expectation of finalising a £35m permanent deal. Villa backed out however - leaving Elliott in limbo before returning to work under Andoni Iraola in the summer.
