The next Dominik Szoboszlai is coming to join Andoni Iraola's first-team soon There's a new Dominik Szoboszlai at Liverpool and he's coming to join Andoni Iraola's first-team soon. Liverpool's Hungarian midfield maestro has become a fan favourite over the last few years. Szoboszlai's terrific goals and incredible work-rate have made him an essential player for the Reds. Having spent over three years at Liverpool and penned a new long-term contract until 2031, Szoboszlai is also the future face of the club. With captain's Virgil van Dijk's contract expiring at the end of the season and vice captains Alisson's and Joe Gomez's contract also expiring, Szoboszlai is a prime candidate to wear the armband. He is already a vice captain and he has been captaining his nation for a long time. There's nobody more deserving of the recognition than the Reds' no.8. Andoni Iraola's working his magic at Liverpool In the absence of Szoboszlai, who has been suffering from a hamstring injury, it's a credit to the Reds' Spaniard that that the club has been able to maintain its form. Iraola was hired by Liverpool because of his ability to maximise his players' potential. We're already seeing the fruits of his exciting labour. Youngsters like Lewis Koumas and Trey Nyoni have stepped up and delivered when needed. Rio Ngumoha already looks a class above compared to last season. Ultimately, everyone is playing with confidence again, which is the most important part. Liverpool are finally back to the way they were playing and operating under Jurgen Klopp, and that means there are more opportunities for other young players to make their mark. Ollie O'Connor will be coming to Liverpool's first-team soon One of the best traits that Szoboszlai possesses is his versatility. Last season, Szoboszlai played as a right-back, and he played very well in that role. Over the course of his career at Anfield Szoboszlai has been used on the wing, he has played as a no.9 and as a no.10 while also playing deeper as a no.6 and naturally playing his more comfortable no.8 position. The Hungarian can simply play anywhere, and Liverpool look to be producing a player very similar to him in that regard. During his career at Liverpool, Ollie O'Connor has played on the wing, in midfield, and more recently, he's been used as a right-back for the club's U21 side. Like Szoboszlai, he is a tenacious player with a great work-ethic and strong technical tools. The youngster has three assists in 11 games from right-back this season, including two in his last two games for the U21s. He has been the Reds' best-performing player at U21 level, and given the lack of depth in the right-back and midfield departments, O'Connor looks next in line to join Iraola's first-team and earn a promotion. So, it's worth keeping a close eye on him.
