Manchester City vs Brighton: Latest City team news and predicted starting XI

Manchester City vs Brighton: Latest City team news and predicted starting XI Manchester City continue their Carabao Cup defence tonight at the Etihad Stadium. The holders of the Carabao Cup will face off against Brighton in a match that has the potential to be an enthralling affair. Fabian Hurzeler’s side have made an impressive start to the 2026-27 season. They play attractive football and the goals have flowed this season for the Seagulls. Enzo Maresca’s side will have to be at their best to beat Brighton. With the attacking football that both teams play, tonight’s match could be an edge-of-the-seat affair. Here is the latest Manchester City team and injury news and my predicted City starting eleven for tonight’s match. Latest City team news. On the injury front, Antoine Semenyo will miss tonight’s match for Manchester City. Semenyo remains sidelined for a considerable length of time due to the knee injury he sustained against Ipswich Town. It remains to be seen if Matheus Nunes is available for selection for tonight’s match. Nunes hasn’t played since he also picked up an injury in Manchester City’s 3-2 win over Ipswich Town just over a week ago. Enzo Maresca told the media yesterday that a selection of key Manchester City players were given time off following Manchester City’s 2-1 loss to Aston Villa last Saturday. Erling Haaland, Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, Elliot Anderson were all given an opportunity to have a well-deserved break. It seems highly unlikely that any of those five players will play tonight. It would be expected that Enzo Maresca will rotate his squad for tonight’s match. City take on Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday and tonight’s match is an opportunity for City squad players to impress. As such, it will not be a surprise to see Maresca heavily rotate his lineup. Brighton will be a tough test for City tonight. But that may make tonight’s match the ideal setting for a selection of City players to put their case forward for more minutes. Predicted Manchester City starting eleven.
