Arsenal to appeal Max Dowman red card

Arsenal to appeal Max Dowman red card Arsenal are set to appeal Max Dowman’s red card, hoping a verdict can be reached before Sunday’s match against Liverpool. Photo by Lewis Storey/Getty Images Simon Collings reports for The S*n that Arsenal will be appealing Max Dowman’s red card against Fleetwood Town , and they have until 13:00 GMT on Thursday to supply to relevant documents. The Gunners are reportedly hoping that a verdict can be reached before they travel for Sunday’s match against Liverpool . As it stands, Dowman is set to be suspended for that game, as well as the subsequent Premier League fixtures against Hull City and Newcastle United . He will be available for the Champions League match against Slavia Praha in between. Photo by Lewis Storey/Getty Images Former MK Dons manager Karl Robinson told Sky Sports that he believes Arsenal’s decision to appeal is a smart move, saying: “That is genius leadership, for me. “[They’re saying]: ‘Young man, yeah, you’ve had a little snarl up, but we back you, and we don’t believe you’ve done a great deal wrong.’ “All the conversations that we had at the top of the show about ‘what did Mikel Arteta say [to Dowman]’, I think we did say he probably thought it was worse than what it was, when [Dowman] came off. We did say once he went in, he probably reflected, and saw it (properly). “He is one of the best at what he does, Arsenal are a well-oiled machine, and that (appeal) is genius for me.” Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images Arsenal won’t have control over the timings of the process, with the FA to determine that element of it. But in general, these appeals tend to be resolved pretty quickly. If the appeal did drag on to Sunday, Dowman would be available for selection in the meantime, and his ban would only come into effect after the appeal decision was made. But that’s unlikely to happen. It’s much more probable that we’ll have a decision one way or another before the Liverpool match. Photo by Alex Pantling/Getty Images
