Burnley owners seek to lift strike-off notice

Burnley are without a win at home in the league since beating Leeds United at Turf Moor in the Premier League over a year ago [Shutterstock] The investment group which owns Burnley says it is in contact with Companies House after receiving a compulsory strike-off notice for failing to submit accounts on time. Velocity Capital (UK) Holdings, the investment arm of ALK Capital, received the notice , dated for 3 November 2026. The club's financial debt, according to its latest accounts to July 2025, increased from £30m to £142m in a 12-month period. "We are aware of the notice issued by Companies House and are taking the necessary steps to resolve the matter," an ALK Capital spokesperson said. "Our company secretarial advisers are in direct contact with Companies House, and we are working closely with our external accountants and auditors to finalise the outstanding accounts. "We expect to make the necessary filings in the coming weeks and remain fully committed to bringing our reporting obligations up to date as quickly as possible." A strike-off could see the company removed from the Companies House register, and would therefore cease to be a legal entity. Hayen sacked by Burnley after just 14 games Burnley appoint Lopez to lead Clarets search for new manager ALK Capital bought the club in 2020 as part of a leveraged takeover, with a loan of £65m from investment company MSD, which has since been refinanced. Since then, Burnley have yo-yoed between the Championship and Premier League, most recently last season's relegation from the top flight. They have struggled in the second tier so far this season and sacked boss Nicky Hayen on Saturday with the club 22nd in the Championship following a poor start to the season. The Clarets have since appointed Diego Lopez as their new chief football officer with responsibility for football operations, recruitment and sporting structure - and the immediate search for a new manager.
