Dexter Oliver Set For Manchester City First-Team Promotion Against Brighton MATCH PREVIEW: Manchester City vs Brighton & Hove Albion (Carabao Cup) Manchester City welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night for the first of two meetings between the two sides in the north-west within the space of just four days. Fabian Hurzeler's side will first travel north looking for a place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, before returning to City's home stadium on Saturday afternoon in a Premier League clash between the clubs. While both teams are hopeful of an extended run in the League Cup, there will no doubt be an awareness of needing rest and rotation to their strongest sides, with the English top-flight the priority this campaign. As such, with City wanting to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League this weekend and bouncing back from defeat to Aston Villa last time out in the division, Enzo Maresca is expected to rotate his line-up in midweek. Aside from the obvious alteration of Geronimo Rulli replacing Gianluigi Donnarumma between the posts for Manchester City , it has now been detailed that academy promotions into the first-team squad are in order. That is according to MailSport's Jack Gaughan , who has revealed that Dexter Oliver is set for a place in Manchester City’s first-team squad on Wednesday night for the Carabao Cup fourth round meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion . The 17-year-old midfielder's promotion into the club's senior men's squad comes off the back of a stellar run of form in the academy system so far this season, with Oliver having scored 12 goals in six Under-18 matches.
