Confirmed: Real Madrid superstar nominated for La Liga Player of the Month award for October

Confirmed: Real Madrid superstar nominated for La Liga Player of the Month award for October Real Madrid have enjoyed a much-needed turnaround in La Liga this month, winning three consecutive matches and reducing Barcelona’s advantage at the top of the table to just three points. Kylian Mbappe has been central to that resurgence, delivering decisive performances when Jose Mourinho’s team needed him most. The French superstar has now been officially nominated for La Liga ‘s Player of the Month award for October. The nomination follows an impressive run that included a match-winning brace against Barça at the Spotify Camp Nou . Mbappe rewarded for impressive October performances Mbappe scored four goals in three league appearances during October, helping Real Madrid maintain a perfect record throughout the month. The 27-year-old’s month included two braces against Sevilla and Barça . Those performances took his goal tally to 11, placing him second behind Raphinha, who has scored 13. Mbappe faces competition from Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Real Sociedad’s Goncalo Guedes, Atletico Madrid’s Alejandro Grimaldo and Elche goalkeeper Matias Dituro for the monthly award. The Frenchman was also nominated for the award back in September, but was pipped to it by eventual winner Raphinha. Mbappe continues to lead Mourinho’s attacking project Mbappe narrowly missed out on the 2026 Ballon d’Or to Harry Kane , but his season has started on a brilliant note regardless. His performances have also benefited from Jose Mourinho’s recent tactical adjustments. Arda Guler’s creativity, Yan Diomande’s movement and Eduardo Camavinga’s ability to carry the ball forward have created opportunities for the French striker. The Clasico offered a convincing example of this, with Mbappe profiting from Los Blancos ‘ tactical set-up and remaining clinical in decisive moments. The biggest positive for Madrid is that they are finding ways to supply their talismanic scorer rather than asking him to do everything on his own. Whether Mbappe wins the monthly award remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that his October performances have brought Madrid right back into the La Liga title race.
