Barcelona fan faces stadium ban after assaulting Real Madrid midfielder during El Clasico

Barcelona fan faces stadium ban after assaulting Real Madrid midfielder during El Clasico A Barcelona supporter has been identified and faces an administrative sanction after allegedly striking Eduardo Camavinga and other Real Madrid players with a flagpole during the celebrations following Madrid’s second goal in El Clasico at Camp Nou.  The incident has prompted action from the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan police), following a complaint by LaLiga and cooperation from FC Barcelona. According to AS , the individual could face a substantial financial penalty and a potential ban from attending sporting events, adding another disciplinary issue to the fallout from the heated encounter between Barcelona and Real Madrid.  The case also places scrutiny on spectator conduct and stadium security during one of Spanish football’s most high-profile fixtures. Police identify fan after Camavinga assault As noted, the supporter used a flagpole to strike Camavinga and his Real Madrid teammates in the face while Madrid players were celebrating their second goal.  The police have identified the individual and initiated proceedings under Spain’s Sports Law. The potential financial consequences depend on how the offence is classified.  A serious infringement carries a fine ranging from €3,000 to €60,000, while a very serious offence can result in a penalty between €60,001 and €650,000. The report states that, because the incident did not cause damage, the offence will be classified as serious, placing the potential fine within the lower statutory range. As such, the supporter could also be prohibited from entering sporting venues for between two and five years.  Barcelona cooperates with police as La Liga confirms disciplinary action Barcelona’s cooperation has been crucial to identifying the individual involved in the Camp Nou incident.  La Liga confirmed the club’s role in assisting the investigation and outlined the next stage of its disciplinary process. Explaining the club’s cooperation and the individual’s reported connection to a supporters’ group, La Liga stated: “It should also be noted that FC Barcelona’s security services actively collaborated with the police in identifying the individual, who is a member of one of the supporters’ groups in the Grada 1957 section.  “This case will be referred to the Club’s Disciplinary Committee for appropriate disciplinary action,” LaLiga stated. The case will therefore have serious consequences. Barcelona’s Disciplinary Committee is expected to consider appropriate action against the supporter, while the administrative process will determine the applicable sanction under the Sports Law.
