Matt Dibley-Dias will miss Friday's fixture against Chesterfield due to a hamstring issue [Huw Evans Picture Agency] Newport County's injury woes deepen as head coach Hayden Mullins confirmed Fulham loanee Matt Dibley-Dias is sidelined with a hamstring issue. The Exiles bid to extend their Rodney Parade unbeaten run when they host Chesterfield Town in League Two on Friday evening (19:45 GMT). Mullins' men head into the game after suffering a 1-0 loss away at Cheltenham Town on Saturday, their first league defeat in eight games. Winger Yahya Bamba and midfielder Dibley-Dias were both forced off at the EV Charger Points Stadium, adding to County's injury crisis. "Dibley-Dias has had a scan, and we're waiting to see the results of that, so he won't be ready for the weekend," Mullins said. "Yahya has been back out training, so we'll have to see how he comes through and where he's at." Both players join a growing list of injuries at the club that includes Christian Doidge, Tanatswa Nyakhuwa and the influential Matty Jacob. County's top goal scorer Shaquille Gwengwe will also miss Friday's fixture, as he completes a three-match suspension for kicking out at an opponent during Newport's draw with York City. Despite their injury worries continuing to mount, Mullins insists his side are in a "good place" ahead of Chesterfield's visit. "We're obviously disappointed to be missing a few players, but it creates an opportunity for someone else to come in and make an impact," said Mullins. "The boys have showed when they've stepped in, that they are ready to go and they've taken their chance." Paul Cook's side are seventh in the table, four points ahead of their hosts in 16th, but it is a challenge that Mullins is relishing. "We'll be ready to attack them and try and hurt them," said Mullins. "We know what we have got in the group and how we want to go about the game. "We respect the opposition. They are a good side with a good manager, and I'm sure they'll be set up well and they'll be positive off the back of a good result." Mullins also urged County supporters to get behind the team, as they look to extend their unbeaten home record under the Rodney Parade floodlights. "At home this season it has been really good and the noise has been excellent. We are going to need them again," he added. "We need them to really get behind the boys and really help us to push on for a positive result." Latest Newport County news, analysis and fan views
