£67m Germany midfielder is Liverpool's Alex Scott alternative

£67m Germany midfielder is Liverpool's Alex Scott alternative It’s no secret that Liverpool admire Alex Scott. The 23-year-old Bournemouth midfielder has previously worked with head coach Andoni Iraola at the Vitality Stadium. Now a fully established England international Scott has risen in prominence over the past year or so. The Cherries are desperate to tie the midfield dynamo down to a new deal - but if not then they will sell him to a top team for what could end up being a nine-figure fee. Alex Scott could go to Chelsea One issue for Liverpool is the presence of Chelsea in the race. Xabi Alonso’s side are now considered favourites to land the ex-Bristol City man. And should the Reds miss out on signing Scott then alternative names will have to be considered. According to a report in TEAMtalk it could prove to be the case that Felix Nmecha arrives from Borussia Dortmund next summer instead. “Liverpool have also got him listed, viewing him as a potential alternative should other targets like Alex Scott prove unattainable,” the report reads. Liverpool want Felix Nmecha instead of Alex Scott Nmecha, 26, joined the Yellow and Blacks from Wolfsburg back in 2023. He has risen in stature since then - becoming a full German international and a coveted prospect for many top English and European teams. Liverpool are listed alongside Manchester United as potentially interested in Nmecha - who is under contract at Signal Iduna Park until 2030. The deal he signed earlier in 2026 contains a release clause however - with €80m (£67m) the fee set for his signature in summer 2027. Before that and Liverpool - or anyone else for that matter - face paying an eye-watering €100m (£84m) fee for the midfielder. Nmecha's €80m release clause “An €80 million clause will only become available from the summer,” the report reads. “Until then, any buyer would need to meet Dortmund’s valuation, which sources place in the region of €100 million.” Losing out on Scott would be a bitter blow - particularly since Chelsea have enjoyed transfer successes against the Merseyside outfit over the past few seasons. But the acquisition of Nmecha - one of Europe’s most in-demand midfielders - would surely cushion the blow.
