Liverpool set to add Flamengo scouting chief Andrii Fedchenkov to recruitment team

Liverpool set to add Flamengo scouting chief Andrii Fedchenkov to recruitment team Liverpool are set to add Flamengo’s scouting chief Andrii Fedchenkov to their recruitment team when his contract with the Brazilian club expires at the end of the year, The Athletic reports. The Ukrainian has been Flamengo’s head of scouting since February 2025 and is now set for a new chapter in the Premier League. Liverpool won’t need to pay a fee to sign him because his contract expires in December. Fedchenkov is highly regarded within football recruitment circles and has been described as organised, data-driven and multilingual. He may be young, but he already has plenty of experience from working across several European leagues. The 30-year-old has worked as a scout for Cardiff City in England, head of scouting at Greek side PAOK, and also held scouting positions at Ukrainian clubs Karpaty Lviv and Shakhtar Donetsk. He’ll be the latest addition to Liverpool’s recruitment department as the Reds continue to reshape their sporting structure following several important departures. Julian Ward was appointed as the club’s new sporting director last month , replacing Richard Hughes, who left Anfield to take up a position with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. Liverpool’s former head of scouting operations, Craig McKee, also left to join Hughes in Riyadh. Liverpool have been assessing candidates who can improve the club’s scouting network and recruitment operations since McKee left, and Fedchenkov could fill that void. He’ll likely work under chief scout Barry Hunter, who has been part of the Liverpool setup since 2012. The potential appointment also fits into Liverpool’s wider plans to improve how they identify and develop young players. The club are reportedly exploring strategic partnerships with teams across mainland Europe to provide better opportunities for their promising talents. Liverpool have already invested heavily in youth recruitment. Teenage centre-backs Mor Talla Ndiaye and Ifeanyi Ndukwe arrived for a combined £3.5 million in January. Colombian youngster Samuel Martinez is expected to join Atletico Nacional once he turns 18 in April, following a £750,000 agreement. The Reds also spent a combined £34.3m on 18-year-old goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans and forward Djylian N’Guessan during the summer transfer window.
