Watch: Yan Diomande glides past Real Madrid players in training with utmost ease The Real Madrid squad’s confidence is at its highest since the start of the season after Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona. Many players have been responsible for sparking this remarkable turnaround, and one of them is Yan Diomande. After taking a few weeks to settle in at his new club, the Ivory Coast winger is getting better and better with each passing game. The 19-year-old winger has once again demonstrated his extraordinary dribbling ability in training, producing two outstanding individual moves against his Madrid team-mates. Diomande leaves Madrid teammates chasing shadows In the first sequence, Diomande receives possession and immediately accelerates into a crowded area, effortlessly weaving past three or four teammates. His close control is particularly impressive, allowing him to change direction repeatedly without losing momentum or letting defenders get close enough to challenge. The second sequence is arguably even more spectacular. Starting from the right flank, Diomande takes on Marc Cucurella, producing a sharp move that leaves the Spanish defender on the ground. He then cuts inside and unleashes a beautiful curling effort into the far corner, completing a wonderful individual goal. Such moments offer another glimpse of why Madrid invested so heavily in the youngster’s potential. His speed is exceptional, but his ability to manipulate the ball in tight spaces makes him especially difficult to contain. Mourinho has an exciting attacking weapon Diomande’s performances this season suggest his training-ground brilliance is translating into competitive football. Diomande is growing at Real Madrid. Against opponents defending deep, Diomande can create openings through individual skill and add another threat to Madrid’s attack. More importantly for Jose Mourinho, the Ivorian has also shown that he is willing to track back and support his full-back. The youngster’s confidence seems to be skyrocketing, and he will hope to perform along the same lines against Racing Santander this weekend. It remains to be seen how Diomande’s role changes after Vinicius Jr. comes back into the fold and whether the two star wingers can coexist in the same system.
