Tottenham Hotspur mainstay responds to Real Madrid and Barcelona links: ‘Would love to return to Spain Real Madrid’s right-back situation has been one of the most talked-about topics in recent weeks following Jose Mourinho’s tactical adjustments. The Portuguese manager has started deploying captain Federico Valverde in the position after Denzel Dumfries and Trent Alexander-Arnold failed to convince him. Tottenham defender Pedro Porro has now addressed his future in an interview with Cadena SER’s El Larguero . Pedro Porro opens door to Spanish return The Spanish defender admitted that he would love to return to Spain while refusing to choose between Real Madrid and Barcelona. “It would be unfair to discuss anything other than my club because I have a contract. The respect they have shown me is mutual,” Porro explained. “I have always said that I would love to return to Spain because it is my country, and it would make me very excited.” Pedro Porro says he would love to return to Spain. Clubs have asked about my situation, but there was no real interest,” he revealed. Porro extended his Tottenham contract until 2031 before the World Cup, making a potential transfer financially complicated. Would Porro suit Real Madrid better than Barcelona? When asked which club would suit his playing style better, Porro deliberately avoided taking sides. “I don’t know. I’ll let people have their opinions. I consider myself a player who can adapt to anything,” he responded. From Madrid’s perspective, Porro’s attacking qualities make him an interesting option. His overlapping runs, delivery and ability to create chances could free Valverde to return to midfield. Pedro Porro had an excellent World Cup. The concern for Madrid is that any move for Porro would likely require sacrificing one of the existing right-back options in the squad. Dumfries only joined in the summer, and selling him so early might not be a feasible option for Los Blancos . That leaves the Englishman, who has struggled to get going in Spain but remains determined to prove himself under Mourinho. Porro’s desire to return to Spain is always welcome, but as things stand, Madrid might struggle to justify making this move. It remains to be seen how the right-back fares for Tottenham under Roberto de Zerbi and whether Madrid make a move for him in the future.
