After a strong start, former QPR, Sunderland and Rangers head coach looking for return to form for Zulte Waregem

After a strong start, former QPR, Sunderland and Rangers head coach looking for return to form for Zulte Waregem Michael Beale enjoyed a great start to his time in charge of Zulte Waregem . The former QPR, Sunderland and Rangers head coach went five games unbeaten to start the season, despite many expecting his side to struggle this season. However, since a 2-0 away win against Kortrijk in the derby, the side have not won a league game for four games. Last time out they lost 3-0 away to RAAL La Louviere, a disappointing result given that RAAL are also expected to struggle this season. It was somewhat of a surprise in the summer when Zulte Waregem announced Beale as their new head coach. Given his previous experience with QPR, Sunderland and Rangers, it appeared a reasonable coup for the Belgian side and also a chance for Beale to rebuild his reputation in a foreign league. This weekend, things don’t get much easier for Beale, but if the side can beat title chasing Club Brugge it could help them rediscover the form they had shown at the beginning of the season. The major concern in the league is the lack of goals. Since that victory over Kortrijk on the 6th of September, the side have failed to score a goal in the league. They did manage three in a cup win over second tier side Seraing, but the lack of goals is a real concern for Beale and Zulte Waregem’s fans. For Beale, he will likely be given a longer leash than he had at his last head coaching role with Sunderland. The former QPR and Rangers man was only in charge for 12 games with Sunderland before he was relieved of his duties. So far he has managed 10 games for Zulte Waregem. GBeNeFN  |  Ben Jackson
