OneFootball x Jack Leonard & Franksy: Man Utd and Chelsea fans' look ahead to Saturday's match

OneFootball x Jack Leonard & Franksy: Man Utd and Chelsea fans' look ahead to Saturday's match As part of OneFootball's collaboration series with Shoot Music we're interviewing an artist about their love of football. This week it's Jack Leonard of electronic duo cheapcuts, who supports Manchester United, and vocalist/DJ Franksy - a Chelsea fan. When did you both start supporting your respective clubs and why?  Jack: I started supporting Manchester United on August 1996 when David Beckham scored that goal against Wimbledon. I’m from Huddersfield originally, but that goal lit me up. I feel like you’ve got a window when to find your team; I was nine when I settled on United, and it made for a happy childhood. In retrospect I thought "thank god I settled on United over Huddersfield, life is hard enough as it is." If only I knew what was coming down the tracks...#Glazersout.  Franksy: I went to a Chelsea away game at Anfield in 2002. We’d played one of our first Audio Bullys gigs at Chibuku at the Masque the night before. There was a good crew of us up there that day. That was back when the Scousers still wore Lacoste tracksuits, it was a different world back then. I also remember going to watch my mate Sam Parkin score there for Chelsea youth in '97.  What was your best memory supporting your club as a child? Jack: Watching the Champions League Final in 1999 at home with my brother Charlie, who was eight at the time. When Sheringham equalised we went mental. Charlie really needed a pee and didn't want to go to the toilet and miss the game, so he went in my mum’s best vase on the windowsill. My mum came in and was about to go mad at him just as Solskjær bagged the winner. Also loved the fact that David May was standing on a chair at the back of the photo right next to the trophy -my dad bought a lawnmower off him once. It was the only time I ever cut the grass.  Franksy: To be honest, I didn’t support them as a child. The only football I did as a child was in the playground. The first time I went to Stamford Bridge was actually for a rave at the club there in about ’97. We all went and there was a load of the Flex FM lot playing. It was a good party at the peak of the garage era. What would constitute a good season for your club this time around? Jack: It has to be winning the Champions League. Even if we’re going through the wars right now, we need to find the United mentality and keep pushing. We’ve got the squad, and the team should be held to a high standard.   Franksy: Top 4 of course. Not sure how realistic that is after the Spurs result but we will try. FA Cup would be great as well, as it’s been eight years since we last won that. Jack - do you think Michael Carrick can last much longer in the job? And if not, who do you think would be a good replacement? I would say stick with Carrick. He’s clearly got some talent. Last season was the best we’d played in years. The recent collapse is worrying of course, but who else is there; Eddie Howe? The German fella who got sacked by Germany after a few games? We've run out of managers! The fish rots from the head down. Glazers OUT!  Franksy - what has been your first impression of the job Xabi Alonso has done so far? My dad always told me great players never made great managers. Maybe he’s got a point when you think about some of the greatest. Ferguson and Mourinho weren’t the greatest on the pitch, but they played enough to know the game and still had a point to prove. That being said, we need to trust Xabi’s vision and stick to a manager. Too many managers have been coming and going, we’ve got to stick true.  What are your predictions for this weekend's clash between your respective sides? Jack: They are looking great this year, but any team who’s just lost to Tottenham has got to be feeling pretty awful, so I reckon United might edge it 1-0.  Franksy: Hopefully we’ll smash United this weekend.
