Club to give Liverpool green light on incredible £100m deal One Premier League club is hoping Liverpool come in with an offer. They're looking to complete a £100m deal. Liverpool will try to sign a midfielder at some stage in 2027. It was the one area of the team that went completely unaddressed in the summer. Or at least, it was with incomings. Changes were made as Curtis Jones left for Inter, with Trey Nyoni receiving a promotion of sorts into the first-team level. But that only sort of fixes the problems. Liverpool still lack a defensive midfielder or a proper controlling player. There's certainly hope that Nyoni develops into that kind of player and the early signs are promising - but it's still a lot to ask of a teenager in his first full senior campaign. That's why we ultimately believe Liverpool will pursue a major signing. Someone who takes the pressure off Nyoni while also adding a new element to the squad - and extra experience at controlling games in the Premier League. Such a player is available, too. Even better, they're just waiting for an offer from Liverpool. Alex Scott is waiting Make no mistake: Chelsea are the favourites to sign Alex Scott from Bournemouth. They're chasing a replacement for Enzo Fernandez and the midfielder looks to be their no.1 pick. But don't rule Liverpool out just yet. The Daily Mail outlines how Chelsea and Liverpool are both in the running to sign Scott, who is expected to leave next year as he enters the final season of his contract. Chelsea believe they can get a deal done for roughly £90m. Bournemouth, however, are supposedly seeking out offers from Liverpool, too, as they're hoping a bidding war pushes the price over £100m. There's certainly a precedent. Brighton did exactly this with Moisés Caicedo in 2023, pitting Liverpool and Chelsea against one another to get a deal in nine figures. Liverpool, then, do have a green light to sign Scott from Bournemouth if they're willing to go over £100m. The Cherries are willing and ready to sign off on that amount. We just question whether the Reds would actually want to. Scott is a fantastic player but another £100m signing? We're not so sure on that one. Nyoni's efforts mean Liverpool don't have to go quite that far to land a midfielder and it'll be okay for them to accept a second-best target for considerably less money. So we still expect Scott to head to Chelsea without the proper bidding war. Bournemouth, though, will hope to convince Liverpool they should bid - and who knows? Maybe they're convincing.
