Please, Julian Ward: Liverpool ’s chance to sign unreal star after Real Madrid's €9m deal

Please, Julian Ward: Liverpool ’s chance to sign unreal star after Real Madrid's €9m deal Liverpool have a golden chance to sign one of the most impressive players in European football. That comes thanks to a €9m Real Madrid deal. Liverpool will be in the market for a centre-back in 2027. That's effectively guaranteed thanks to their pretty ridiculous contract situation playing out right now. Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez will both see their deals expire and we're far from certain that either will get a new one. Ronald Araujo will, as things stand, head back to Barcelona with the end of his loan deal. It means that Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni are the only centre-backs currently on the books for 2027/28. Both are under 23 and one of them hasn't even played in over a year - hardly the situation a title-contender dreams of. And so Liverpool will inevitably look to sign someone. We think the perfect player is available, too, and that's thanks to Real Madrid. Jacobo Ramon is the one to watch We're massive fans of Jacobo Ramon, the young Spanish centre-back at Como. In fact, Liverpool were reportedly blown away by the player when scouting him at the start of the year. Our Value Adder model also rates Ramon incredibly highly . We're talking potentially-the-best-in-the-world level. It becomes more and more apparent that Ramon genuinely is of that pedigree and it seems that Real Madrid have realised that. Los Blancos have always been the problem with buying him from Como as they hold a buyback clause. Matteo Moretto reports , though, that Real Madrid will trigger that buyback in 2027 with a view to either keeping or selling the player. Quite incredibly, that clause is for around €9m. So they'll either get a bargain defender or a gigantic profit. All we can say for sure is that they're finally opening the door here for Ramon's future to get sorted and that's a situation Liverpool need to get involved in. We're not sure they'll find a better centre-back partner for Jacquet long-term. Ramon is a phenomenal talent and the kind you just sign if you can. Real Madrid have got some big decisions to make, then, and we fully expect Liverpool to apply some sort of pressure on them ahead of a possible deal. Tempt them as much as you can, we say, as Ramon is just waiting to be Virgil van Dijk's successor.
