Manchester City 0 Brighton 1: Only one player stood up for City as they lose at home
Manchester City 0 Brighton 1: Only one player stood up for City as they lose at home Manchester City 0 Brighton 1 (Yasin Ayari 11′) Here are the City player ratings as Manchester City were beaten 1-0 by Brighton at the Etihad Stadium today. An 11th minute tap-in from Yasin Ayari was enough for Fabian Hurzeler’s side to leave the Etihad with all three points today Yes, at times, Enzo Maresca’s side dominated possession and territory to at least pick up a point. However, their lack of quality and cohesion cost them dearly today. The City player ratings reflect this, which can be seen below. City player ratings. Gianluigi Donnarumma-5/10: He had no chance with Ayari’s goal. He did make one great save but his play with his feet is more than an issue now. Matheus Nunes-4/10: It was Nunes’ error that cost his team. He got forward well after that but he wasn’t at his best. Abdukodir Khusanov-6/10: In the first half Khusanov ran around like a headless school. In the second half he was much better. However, he can’t run around so recklessly. Simple as that. That doesn’t discount his attacking threat at times but he isn’t in the lineup for that. Ruben Dias-6.5/10: I thought Dias was City’s best performed defender today. Josko Gvardiol-6/10: Not his best performance, nor was it his worst. However, he had to close out quicker on the cross which allowed Brighton to take a 1-0 lead in my opinion. Ayyoub Bouaddi- 5/10: It wasn’t Bouaddi’s day. He strangely played a more advanced role in midfield and while he had some quality touches he didn’t influence the game. Elliot Anderson-8/10: By far and away Manchester City’s man-of-the-match today. He did all could and never stopped trying to lift his team. Enzo Fernandez-5.5/10: Not his day. He toiled away in midfield and showed flashes of his quality but his end product wasn’t quite there. Iliman Ndiaye-6/10: His effort deserved a higher grade but his finishing let hom down. That summed up Ndiaye’s afternoon. Jeremy Doku-5/10: For his ability to get into great positions he gets an 8. His end product earns his a 3. So I settled on a 5/10 for Doku who had too many great moments that he squandered throughout the match. Erling Haaland- 4/10: He suffered from a lack of service but he also was snuffed out by Brighton’s stubborn defence. Substitutes. Rayan Cherki- 7/10: By far and away City’s most dangerous attacking outlet after coming on. Nico O’Reilly-6/10: Got into some great positions but he still looks short of a gallop. Allan- N/A: Not on long enough to mark but he did give away possession easily. Phil Foden- N/A: Not on long enough to mark and should have come on earlier.
