Barcelona midfield star shuts the door on potential Manchester United move: ‘I don’t pay attention’

Barcelona midfield star shuts the door on potential Manchester United move: ‘I don’t pay attention’ Barcelona were back to their best in the 6-1 victory over Deportivo Alaves at the Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday. Many players had an excellent game for the Catalan club, but the best was arguably Fermin Lopez , who scored once and provided a couple of assists. The 23-year-old could have had even more goal contributions had his team-mates taken the chances he had put on a plate for them. After the game, Fermin was asked about his future amid recent links with Manchester United. The Spanish international made it clear that he remains fully committed to the Catalan club and hopes to spend the rest of his career at the Camp Nou . Fermin sends clear message to Manchester United Manchester United had recently explored the possibility of signing the La Masia graduate as part of their plans to strengthen their midfield. I want to stay at Barcelona for as long as possible, and I hope to finish my career at this club,” he declared (h/t Mundo Deportivo ). His celebration after scoring against Alaves also reinforced that message. As always, Fermin was very expressive and passionate. After finding the net, Fermin kissed the Barça badge and pointed towards it, sending a message in no uncertain terms. Barcelona have no reason to sell Fermin Fermin’s development from an academy graduate to a first-team star has taken a very unconventional path. A player who was once loaned out to a third-division club and was on the verge of leaving permanently is now one of the first names on the team sheet for Hansi Flick. The 23-year-old has already scored 6 goals and provided 5 assists so far this season, showcasing his qualities as a goalscoring midfielder. Barcelona have no reason to sell Fermin. At his age, Fermin still has his entire career ahead of him. More importantly for the Catalan club, he has shown signs of improvement every season. Players like Fermin are very difficult to buy in today’s market, and Barcelona are very fortunate to have produced one. It is good news that the La Masia graduate has no intention of leaving Barça , and it remains to be seen how his career progresses in the coming years.
