Former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique dismisses Lamine Yamal comparison with Lionel Messi – “Nobody can beat him” Fresh from yet another snub at the Ballon d’Or, Lamine Yamal bounced back brilliantly by producing a solid performance in the 6-1 win over Deportivo Alaves. The Spanish international bagged a brace and was a constant threat in the Barcelona frontline, with Raphinha and Fermin Lopez also impressing. As Yamal continues to perform, the Barcelona star has received praise from none other than Luis Enrique, although the Spanish tactician has shut down any comparisons with Lionel Messi. He’s improving his aspects of the game,” he said (h/t Diario SPORT ). He was also quick to shut down any comparisons with the great Lionel Messi. “Comparing Messi, the best player of all time, with any other player, nobody’s going to beat him ,” he said. For Luis Enrique, Yamal’s intelligence lies precisely in not measuring himself against others. “Lamine wants to be the best version of himself, and it’s best not to compare himself to others. He’s very intelligent ,” he added. On how to stop him, and Barcelona’s wider threat Enrique believes Barcelona are much more than just Yamal. Luis Enrique, though, stressed that Flick’s side are far from a one-man team, as he pointed to several other players who can make a difference at Barcelona. “We know they have many high-quality players, it’s not just Lamine. Raphinha, Pedri, Cubarsi, Joan Garcia… there are many ,” he concluded. Regarded as one of the best managers in the current era, this is high praise coming from Enrique for Yamal, who will hope to go from strength to strength after missing out on the Ballon d’Or for two years in a row.
