Liverpool vs Arsenal player ratings
Liverpool vs Arsenal player ratings were on a razor's edge for most of the game as the Reds threatened the champs all the way through a 1-0 win at Anfield. The win was a first at Anfield for Arsenal in almost a decade-and-a-half. Who were the stars of this one, and who struggled to asset their strengths on the match? Read on. Liverpool vs Arsenal player ratings Alisson Becker: 6 — Fantastic save on Tzolis to keep it 1-0 in the 73rd minute but a bad short pass out of the back set in motion Arsenal's opener. Milos Kerkez: 7 — Less than average in his own end but what an amazing day going forward. Three chances created within the first hour. Jeremy Jacquet: 7.5 — Five tackles and three interceptions. Not a shot to VVD but how long until he assumes the title of Liverpool's best center back. Virgil van Dijk: 7 — Great in the air, nearly assisting an Isak goal with a header off a corner kick. Neither he now Jacquet could conjure a block on Rice's cross for Havertz's goal but it was a tough ask. Still... Ronald Araujo: 6.5 — His big body was effective again but a spin-and-hope shot in the second half was less than ideal. Trey Nyoni (Off 59') : 7 — Led the game in touches (60) when he exited for Szoboszlai. The 19-year-old was lucky to avoid early yellow cards but settled into the game. Fourteen line-breaking passes led the game despite his playing less than 67% of it. Alexis Mac Allister: 5.5 — Made a brilliant late run but couldn't connect with an unmarked header. Was in the middle of an ugly scrap late. Bradley Barcola: 7 — A menace moving forward with 12 touches in the Arsenal box. End product not elite. Florian Wirtz: 6.5 — A small step back for one of the league's primary chance creators this young season. Cody Gakpo (Off 67') : 5.5— Just 31 touches in a day only matches or surpassed in quiet by his attack partner Isak. Alexander Isak: 4.5 — An almost silent performance, he blazed his best opportunity way over the bar. Subs Dominik Szoboszlai (On 59') : 6.5 — His long-awaited return reminded us that Liverpool had been succeeding without last season's Player of the Year. Rio Ngumoha (On 67') : — Victor Munoz (On 81') : — N/A Kostas Tsimikas (On 81') : — N/A Victor Munoz (On 81') : — N/A Arsenal player ratings at Liverpool David Raya: 6.5 — Didn't have to make a save but made a good intervention to stop Munoz from serving Barcola in the 90th minute. Riccardo Calafiori: 7 — Defended well enough. Ezri Konsa: 8 — Level with Jacquet for the game-high in tackles with five, and led the game in defensive contriubutions (14). Gabriel Magalhaes: 7 — Play-acting as usual but immense as well. Jurrien Timber: 7.5 — One of three Arsenal players to draw a game-high three fouls despite consistent pressure from a bubbly Barcola. Declan Rice: 8 — Another Man of the Match worthy performance even discounting the assist. Three shot attempt to lead the contest. Bruno Guimaraes (Off 63') : 6.5 — A bit wayward with his shooting but active as usual and quite good defensively/in the tackle. Noni Madueke: 7.5 — So very good again. There's not a lot of dawdling in his game. He finds danger with the pass and if it's not there he looks to score (and vice versa). Slipped ball to Rice ahead of the goal. Martin Odegaard: 7.5 — Not at his best offensively but was all over the pitch in covering a game-high distance of nearly eight miles. Christos Tzolis: 6.5 — Led Arsenal in touches inside the Liverpool box, and nearly beat Alisson late in the game. Kai Havertz: 7.5 — Scored the goal and proved an effective rabble rouser as well, committing three fouls. Subs Myles Lewis-Skelly (On 63') : 7 — Cautioned but did his job so well in a tidy half-hour or so. Piero Hincapie (On 84') : N/A Viktor Gyokeres (On 84') : N/A Mikel Merino (On 88') : N/A
