Club 🇮🇹 congratulates famous fan on historic Formula 1 title 🏁 Bologna are enjoying a good run in Italy's Serie A thanks to three straight wins. And on Sunday (1), they "shifted" their focus to celebrate a truly historic achievement by an Italian in another sport.  Andrea Kimi Antonelli celebrated winning the Formula 1 title after finishing third at the Mexican GP. He became the youngest world champion of all time at 20 years and 68 days old. Kimi Antonelli ended Italy's long, 73-year wait for a champion in motorsport's premier category — dating back to Alberto Ascari in 1953. The Mercedes driver — chosen to replace Lewis Hamilton at the team — reached 380 points and can no longer be caught with four races remaining.  A football fan and Bologna supporter, he was hailed by the players at his beloved club. Antonelli made headlines when he took to the streets of Bologna to celebrate the club's Coppa Italia triumph last year.  He is also a fan of an F1 legend: Ayrton Senna. He wears number 12 in tribute to the late Brazilian driver and made a point of visiting his idol's grave last year.  The next GP will take place in Brazil, at Interlagos. He has NEVER seen 🇮🇹 play a World Cup knockout match Antonelli was born on August 25, 2006. Italy played their last World Cup knockout match on July 9 of that same year, when they beat France to win the title. The Azzurri's subsequent World Cup campaigns ended in humiliating exits in 2010 (in a group with Slovakia, Paraguay and New Zealand) and in Brazil in 2014. The worst was yet to come, as Italy did not even qualify for the 2018, 2022 and 2026 World Cups. Antonelli's only joy was their Euro 2020 triumph.
