Battle of the BeNe League: PSV and Club Brugge set for rare Champions League clash

Battle of the BeNe League: PSV and Club Brugge set for rare Champions League clash There is certainly no love lost between Dutch and Belgian football fans when their two nations face off against each other. The low countries have a rivalry that, for the most part, the Dutch have gotten the better of. This week in the Champions League, the champions of the two countries respective leagues do battle in Eindhoven. Club Brugge have had a fantastic start to the Champions League, while PSV got their first win in the Champions League last time out against FC Porto. Club Brugge will travel to face PSV in the Champions League off the back of some fine form. Since they beat Antwerp 3-1 on the 13th of September, the defending Belgian Champions have won all of their subsequent seven games. This includes back to back wins in the Champions League with victory away to Inter and at home to Lens. A win in Eindhoven would really set Club Brugge up to progress in this years Champions League. For PSV, their first win in the competition against Porto came admits a run of two wins, two defeats and one draw in their past five games. However, they certainly found their scoring boots this weekend past, with a 7– demolition of newly promoted Willem II. The other victory came away to Porto, an impressive result that could be a catalyst to get their Champions League campaign fully up and running. The side lost away to RB Leipzig, which followed an opening day draw with Shakhtar Donetsk. The sides rarely play each other, especially when it comes to European football. It is unlikely that either club will think in these terms, but the winner would certainly earn bragging rights for their domestic league within the footballing rivalry between the Dutch and the Belgians.
