Despite strong start in Europe, Sint Truiden part ways with Wouter Vrancken’s former assistant and successor Frederic De Meyer Sint Truiden are looking for a new head coach just a few months after appointing Frederic De Meyer. The Belgian head coach, who succeeded Wouter Vrancken after he left the club to join Hearts in the summer, has been sacked following a poor run of form in the Belgian Pro League. This past weekend the side lost 2-1 at home to OH Leuven despite dominating the chances and missing two penalties. De Meyer had gotten Sint Truiden off to a great start in Europe, but their lack of form domestically has cost him his job. The defeat to OH Leuven this past weekend was the fifth defeat in a row for Sint Truiden in the league. The club statement on the official website indicates that the ownership believe they invested heavily in the squad to ensure they could compete both domestically and in Europe, although some may argue they never quite replaced key players. In truth, the Canaries should have beaten OH Leuven and could have saved De Meyer from being sacked. They missed two penalties and a host of first half chances which were eventually punished by OH Leuven, a side not renown for their ability to win matches this season. It is not yet clear whether a new man will be in place in time for the sides next game, which comes in the Europa Conference League against Norwegian side Brann. In Europe, Sint Truiden have won both of their opening games, a feat that Brann has also managed to achieve. GBeNeFN | Ben Jackson
