Real Madrid yet to make final decision on the return of former defender seen as Rudiger’s replacement According to Jose Felix Diaz of AS , Real Madrid have not made a final decision on whether they will bring back former defender Jacobo Ramon from Como in the summer of 2027. The former La Fabrica graduate has excelled during his time in Italy over the past year, leading to strong speculations about a move back home to the Santiago Bernabeu. No decision made yet Last week, reports emerged claiming that Real Madrid had already decided that they would re-sign Ramon , using their buyback clause in the agreement with Como. Having pulled off a similar arrangement with Nico Paz last summer, only to sell him back to the Serie A club, it was claimed that Los Blancos would activate the buyback option for the defender as well. Nonetheless, the aforementioned update from AS denies that a decision has already been made with regard to Ramon’s return. Instead, it states that Real Madrid are pondering bringing him back, with the club seeing him as a replacement for Antonio Rudiger, whose contract expires at the end of the season. However, no final decision has been made yet by the board and will not be made at least until March or April 2027 . Ramon excelling in Italy Will Ramon return to Real Madrid? (Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images) Having left Real Madrid to sign for Como in 2025, Ramon has excelled during his time in Italy, following in the footsteps of Nico Paz. The Spanish defender played a key role in the team securing qualification for the UEFA Champions League last season and has carried on in his rich vein of form this term. So far in 2026/27, the 21-year-old defender has played 13 times in all competitions, even chipping in with three goals and an assist. Considering that Rudiger’s contract is unlikely to be renewed, bringing back a talented player like Ramon for a nominal fee would be an excellent move by Real Madrid. Only time will tell whether they follow through.
