La Liga president accuses Real Madrid of prolonging Negreira case to damage Barcelona
La Liga president accuses Real Madrid of prolonging Negreira case to damage Barcelona Speaking at a public appearance earlier today, La Liga president Javier Tebas lashed out at Real Madrid, accusing them of dragging out the Negreira case just to hurt Barcelona. The matter regarding the payments by Barça to former president of the Referees’ Technical Committee (CTA), Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, is still being investigated by the Spanish courts. So far, there has been no evidence pointing at any wrongdoing or sporting corruption from Barça, but Real Madrid continue to attack the Blaugrana , calling the case the biggest scandal in football history . Tebas hits out at Real Madrid Now, Tebas as accused Real Madrid of only caring about the Negreira case after Barcelona dropped out of the Super League project, and that the Spanish capital are dragging things out just to damage their rivals. “They are stretching the Negreira case like chewing gum. Real Madrid thinks Negreira is in every referee’s dressing room at every stadium where Real Madrid plays,” he said. Tebas has called out Real Madrid for their constant attacks on Barcelona. The president of Real Madrid was on the board of directors for six months after the Negreira issue came to light. “In a general assembly, he defended the club of his then-friend while it was in the Super League. The day Barça left, it seems everything changed.” Tebas calls Real Madrid behaviour unacceptable Continuing, Tebas further lashed out at Real Madrid for dragging the matter for longer than it should have run, terming their actions towards Barcelona ‘unacceptable’. (Photo by Angel Martinez/Getty Images) “It must be clearly stated that what is happening with the constant attacks against FC Barcelona is unacceptable because this is a drawn-out affair. “Barcelona will have to assume their responsibilities if necessary, but right now they cannot be blamed for anything because it is Real Madrid that is asking for the process to be prolonged.” Meanwhile, Tebas also made it clear that there is a clear distinction between the Negreira case and the charges that Manchester City are facing in the Premier League, and that verdict cannot influence the Catalans’ situation. “Barça’s case has nothing to do with City’s , and that cannot influence the justice system. The decision must be made here, in Spain,” he concluded. Source: AS
