Dominik Szoboszlai provides injury update ahead of Fenerbahce vs Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai provides injury update ahead of Fenerbahce vs Liverpool Dominik Szoboszlai Injury Update as Liverpool Weigh Midfield Options for Fenerbahce Dominik Szoboszlai says he is fit again. Liverpool will hope he is right, because the timing matters. The midfielder returned in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Anfield, his first appearance since 17 October after a hamstring problem suffered on international duty in September and October. It was a quiet comeback. Liverpool lost rhythm after he replaced Trey Nyoni, who had been one of the brighter performers. That happens. Players returning from muscle injuries rarely look sharp straight away. Before Sunday, Szoboszlai had only managed one outing since the break, starting against Brentford and lasting 30 minutes before coming off. So this has clearly been a stop-start period, even if the player now insists the issue is behind him. He said: “The worst thing is to be injured and watch the guys from the stands or on TV. I’m happy to be back, feeling good, feeling fit, and ready to go again on Wednesday. “Did I come back too soon? It stays secret. It’s very hard, you know. I’m the type of player, as you might know, that the last three seasons I want to play every 90 minutes but sometimes your body says ‘rest a little bit’ and my body told me to ‘stay calm, you’ve had enough games now’. “I missed games against (Manchester) City and LASK and then I felt again very good after a couple of days off but it seemed I wasn’t ready but sometimes it is my heart and I listen to my heart and not my body. “The plan to come in (from the bench). I was actually ready from the start but I’ve played 30 minutes and let’s see from now on.” Photo: IMAGO Midfield Competition Growing Fast There is another layer here. Szoboszlai is not walking back into a quiet midfield. He has already been used in several roles under Andoni Iraola this season, even filling in briefly at right-back, while Trey Nyoni’s progress has added real pressure. Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch are there too. Minutes have to be earned. Fenerbahce Start Now Looks Likely That said, Wednesday’s Champions League game against Fenerbahce looks like the obvious moment to push him back in. Rotation is expected, and Liverpool need points to strengthen their knockout hopes. If Szoboszlai is genuinely over the hamstring issue, this is the game to prove it. Fitness first, form second. Liverpool need both from him now.
