Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel has died aged 30 after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest in an on-pitch collision during a match on Monday. Tenerife initially reported that he was “stable, despite the severity of his condition” in the intensive care unit of Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz, before reporting that his neurological condition had worsened in the early hours of Tuesday. The foul appeared to knock out De Miguel and Owono, who was shown a straight red card for the challenge, immediately ran to his side along with other players from both teams and medical staff, before the 30-year-old was taken to hospital.
