Barcelona are looking to avoid any bad luck in a season-defining November

Barcelona are looking to avoid any bad luck in a season-defining November Barcelona will kickstart their November schedule with a game against Aston Villa in the UEFA Champions League. It will mark the start of a busy November that could more or less define Barcelona’s season heading into the end of the season’s first half. The Catalans are coming on the back of a disappointing October, which included painful and morale-shattering defeats to not only PSG but also arch-rival Real Madrid. This will be followed by yet another big match against Atletico Madrid on Sunday, in what will be a must-win encounter for Hansi Flick’s men. It doesn’t get any easier, with the Catalans taking on Villarreal after the season’s second international break. Fortunately, Barcelona can end November on a light note, with games against Sabah in the Champions League and Deportivo A Coruna in La Liga, though the first one is an away game while Deportivo can always be a tricky opposition. The first November of his tenure, in 2024, coincided with a first real crisis, with a sudden of loss of form and an injury crisis that led to defeats against Real Sociedad and Las Palmas as well as a draw with Celta Vigo. The chain of events led to the November being branded as a “s*it November”, though the season ended quite admirably with the club securing the domestic treble while reaching the semifinal of the Champions League. Barcelona, in contrast, enjoyed a much better November last year with four wins, one draw and one defeat, which came against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Hansi Flick will hope for similar form this year.
