Harry Kane signs huge new contract with Bayern Munich — What's next?
Harry Kane has signed a new contract with Bayern Munich, which takes his stay at the German giants up until the summer of 2029. Kane, 33, has long been expected to sign the contract extension and it is believed the Ballon d’Or winner has signed the most lucrative contract in Bayern's history. MORE — Why Harry Kane’s Ballon d’Or win is a victory for everyone Sky in Germany also say that Kane will be paid over $28 million per year, and that means he will be the highest paid player in Europe by salary. Harry Kane’s new contract is well deserved After breaking so many records and becoming the first Bayern men's player since the 1980s to be crowned as the best player on the planet, Kane's new contract is incredibly well deserved. After arriving at Bayern in the summer of 2023 he's won two German titles, plus a German Cup, and scored 156 goals in 161 games in all competitions, including 102 goals in 102 Bundesliga games. Kane had been linked with moves to Barcelona, among others, but he seems extremely happy at Bayern and is playing in a system which suits him so well and with players who deliver quality quality chances for him by the bucket load each game. What next for Harry Kane, Bayern Munich? There's no doubt the one prize Bayern and Kane want to win is the UEFA Champions League. They have reached the semifinals in two of the last three seasons, and the quarterfinals in-between, and have been knocked out by the eventual champions in two of the last three years. Kane's legacy as a Bayern legend is already intact but if he can guide them to Champions League glory for the first time since 2020 he will truly by up there in their pantheon of greats. It seems likely that Kane, like Roberto Lewandowski at Bayern before him, can keep going for many years to come. This new contract takes him up to the summer of 2029 when he will turn 36 years old. England will be among the favorites to win the 2028 European Championships on home soil before that, and also the 2030 World Cup, and at the moment Kane shows no signs of slowing down in terms of his goals and his overall importance with his link-up play for club and country. Up next for Kane and Bayern are plenty more goals, which will very likely lead to many more trophies, as he chases an elusive trophy for England and the Champions League for Bayern.
