Rayan Aït-Nouri's Entourage Opens Up on Potentially Imminent Manchester City Exit
Rayan Aït-Nouri's Entourage Opens Up on Potentially Imminent Manchester City Exit Is there any hope left for Rayan Ait-Nouri? More Videos Rayan Aït-Nouri arrived at Manchester City in the summer of 2025 from Wolverhampton Wanderers as a natural full-back with a fast-growing reputation in the English game and big expectations at the Etihad Stadium. Barely a year and a half on from a blockbuster transfer, the Algeria international now finds himself on the fringes of Enzo Maresca's squad, unable to force his way into the side and now reportedly keen to be elsewhere. According to reports in France, the defender's representatives are actively working towards a January departure after an exit in the preceding summer was blocked by the club. With minutes almost impossible to come by in the current Manchester City system, the player's camp has become determined to find him a fresh start. Rayan Aït-Nouri came close to leaving in the early stages of the ongoing season, as highlighted by L'Equipe and relayed by Sport Witness , after Manchester City turned down late interest in the defender before the deadline. Serie A giants Juventus are believed to have pushed for a deal, while Manchester United tried to arrange a loan agreement in the closing stages of the window, only for City officials to knock the approaches back. That refusal has done nothing to cool the player's desire to move on. If anything, it has sharpened it, with Rayan Aït-Nouri recently switching representation to agent Ali Barat in a change reportedly designed to help him take charge of his future and find regular minutes. The reason for the frustration is obvious to anyone who has observed the defender’s lack of game time under Enzo Maresca, having already been used sparingly under Pep Guardiola last season and barely featuring since. The 25-year-old has managed just 168 minutes across four appearances under Maresca this term and is yet to play a single minute in the Premier League, with Joško Gvardiol and Nico O'Reilly both ahead of him in the pecking order. His lack of minutes has also complicated his standing with Algeria, with the full-back having left the most recent international camp early after an altercation that began with him on the bench. The player's camp has allegedly made its intentions clear. Speaking to L'Equipe, an unnamed source close to Rayan Aït-Nouri was unambiguous about the plan for the upcoming January market. “Everything is being done to try and leave this winter,” the source said. “The player remains highly regarded in England and beyond. We need to find the best possible solution with Manchester City. He can't stay in this situation where his talent is being wasted.” It seems unthinkable that Manchester City's Director of Football Hugo Viana and his recruitment team would be against letting Rayan Aït-Nouri January, unless his standing in the squad changes drastically over the next two months. An exit in the coming weeks and months looks increasingly like he Algerian's only route back to regular football, both at club level and for his country.
