That error changed the complexion of the match and eventually Manchester City came away with a 3-2 win. Gianluigi Donnarumma’s error followed a similar pattern with his recent displays. Enzo Maresca is backing Donnarumma in and the Italian keeper must repay his manager’s faith. Speaking after Manchester City beat RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena, in quotes relayed by the Manchester Evening News , Enzo Maresca acknowledged that Donnarumma had again made a costly mistake. However, Maresca backed Donnarumma and praised a save he made two minutes before his error. Speaking on Donnarumma, Maresca said: “ Not a concern but it’s a mistake. We recognise that it’s a mistake. At the moment I’m not thinking about the goalkeeping situation. A few minutes before the goal he’s done a save that no keeper in the world makes. Gigio knows he was not good with the first goal. He’s going to do better. ” Enzo Maresca is backing Gianluigi Donnarumma to get better and snap out of his recent dip in performances. It is now up to Donnarumma to repay his manager’s faith in him. Donnarumma is better than his recent performances suggest. There is no doubt about that. It is now time for him to lift and inspire his team. Rather than cost his team and spread a sense of nervousness throughout City’s play. Right now, Gianluigi Donnarumma’s form is a major concern for Manchester City.
