Zinedine Zidane says Mbappe can play in his preferred position for France – “There will no problem” The second international break of the season is just around the corner, with France’s new manager Zinedine Zidane recently releasing his final squad. France are slated to take on Italy and Turkiye as part of the UEFA Nations League campaign. Les Bleus are already topping the group with three wins in four matches. France’s latest squad includes four Real Madrid players in Aurelien Tchouameni, Ibrahima Konate, Eduardo Camavinga and Kylian Mbappe. Zidane on Mbappe’s position There has been some speculation on how Zidane will implement Mbappe into this team. Last time out, the new coach simply did not get enough time with the Real Madrid star, who picked up an injury in the win over Turkiye. Mbappe could operate as a left winger for France. So that means up front, there will be no issue,” he added. A positive for Real Madrid? Zidane’s comments effectively suggest Mbappe might be given the opportunity to operate in his preferred left-wing position. All eyes on Mbappe this international break (Photo by Juan Manuel Serrano Arce/Getty Images) This could be interesting for Mbappe but not so much for Real Madrid, as Los Blancos would prefer the Frenchman continue to lead the frontline. That is because Real Madrid still lack the services of a proper alternative for Mbappe in the number nine position, as Endrick and Carlos Espi have yet to prove themselves as a trusted starting candidate for Jose Mourinho. It will, nonetheless, be interesting to see how Mbappe operates as a left winger for France, should Real Madrid eventually look to move on from Vinicius Jr and sign a new forward in the future.
