ROSSONERE BEATEN IN THE DERBY

ROSSONERE BEATEN IN THE DERBY It was a disappointing afternoon for AC Milan , beaten 3-0 by Inter in the derby on Matchday 6 of Serie A Women . All three goals came after halftime at the PUMA House of Football, following a first half in which the Rossonere controlled play and created the better chances. The contest turned on key moments , with Bugeja converting two penalties, Glionna scoring in between, and Inter making the most of the extra player after Estévez was sent off. The win keeps the visitors second in the standings , as the only team keeping pace with league leader Roma. AC Milan worked hard but was left to regret its missed chances in the first half, particularly those that fell to Sesay. The next two November fixtures, against Napoli Women and Sassuolo , offer a chance to bounce back. Come on, girls ! CHECK OUT THE PHOTOGALLERY FROM AC MILAN vs. INTER MATCH REPORT
The Rossonere started brightly and nearly took the lead in the fifth minute, when Sesay’s shot was kept out before Grimshaw was beaten to the ball in a promising position inside the six-yard box. Nothing came of the resulting corner. AC Milan’s aggressive pressing in the final third forced a turnover, but Sesay fired wide from close range at the end of the move (16’). The intensity dropped as the half progressed, and chances became increasingly scarce. In the 32nd minute, Sorelli was initially shown a red card for a foul on Raphino, but it was downgraded to yellow after an FVS review. The rest of the half passed without much action, apart from a harmless Tomašević effort just before halftime. The second half also started slowly until Grimshaw fouled Glionna in the box ( 57’ ). Bugeja stepped up and sent Estévez the wrong way to put Inter ahead. AC Milan tried to respond and pushed forward, but the task became even harder when Estévez was sent off for handling outside the box (65’). Inter doubled its lead as Polli set up Glionna, who gave the newly introduced Rainey no chance ( 67’ ). Despite trailing and being a player down, AC Milan continued to attack bravely but couldn’t create any clear chances. In the 81st minute , Soffia fouled Polli in the box, and Bugeja converted a second penalty. After Raphino struck the bar , Kyvåg forced Rúnarsdottir into a difficult save (86’). The Norwegian then had a left-footed shot blocked by the Icelandic goalkeeper in the second of six minutes of stoppage time. It finished AC Milan 0-3 Inter.
