Shaw nets hat-trick as Manchester City defeat West Ham

Shaw nets hat-trick as Manchester City defeat West Ham Khadija Shaw scored a hat-trick as Manchester City defeated West Ham United 5-0 at The Joie Stadium this afternoon. Aoba Fujino and Iman Beney were also on target for The Cityzens as they chalked up a big win. It was all Manchester City in the early stages. Lauren Hemp latched on to a loose ball and passed it quickly to Shaw, however, the forward eventually dragged the shot wide. A rare West Ham United break saw Kelly Gago race through on goal, but Yui Hasegawa did just enough to make sure she couldn’t get the shot away. Zelem then had an attempt at goal from 25 yards out, but her effort went wide of the goal. Constance Picaud-Inconnu saved a Kerstin Casparij effort before Viviane Asseyi almost scored an absolute screamer, but her shot went over the bar. On her 150th Manchester City appearance, Shaw got the game’s first goal. Hemp stole the ball and brilliantly passed to Shaw. She fired it into the back of the net for her tenth goal in nine games. The hosts then made it two and once again it was Shaw on the scoresheet with a classic header. Fujino added a third on the hour. She ran up the pitch and slotted the ball into the far corner. Beney netted a fourth for Manchester City with a fantastic strike from outside the box. Shaw then claimed her hat-trick. She snuck past two West Ham United centre-backs and wasted no time in putting the ball into the back of the net. The result moves Manchester City back to the top of the table while West Ham United sit in tenth.
