World Cup-winning manager rejects Manchester United in hope of future Real Madrid move – report With Real Madrid deciding to part ways with Alvaro Arbeloa at the end of the last season, a number of managers were being linked with the vacant hotseat at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Merengues eventually opted to bring back a familiar face in Jose Mourinho, who seems to be building a formidable team in the Spanish capital club. However, before the Portuguese tactician’s appointment was confirmed, one of the names heavily linked with the job was Didier Deschamps . The former France manager was set to call time on his stint with the national team after the World Cup, leading to speculations that he was a fancied candidate at Valdebebas. While Deschamps has remained without a club since, he was reportedly offered a chance to take over the reins at Manchester United, where Michael Carrick’s job is hanging by a thread. However, the French tactician is said to have rejected the offer from the Premier League giants so that the possibility of a future opportunity to manage Real Madrid remains open. An unlikely possibility While Deschamps may harbour hopes of managing Real Madrid, any move in the near future remains highly unlikely. Indeed, the Special One has been backed to the hilt in the transfer market, while also being allowed to have a major say in the club’s transfer dealings and other areas of operation. Moreover, there is a strong sense of unity in the dressing room and the atmosphere has improved greatly compared to last season, while the results have also been very good. So, there is very little possibility of any changes happening in the managerial position at the club, with everyone at Real Madrid fully behind Mourinho.
