One of the many fouls (31 total) also led to the opener. Kylian Mbappé opted to take a free kick, and as the ball deflected off the wall, it landed in front of Fede Valverde, who struck from range, as per usual for the Uruguayan. Another Valencia mistake later let Los Blancos double the lead. Jude Bellingham picked up the ball after a turnover and cut it back from the touchline for Arda Güler to tap it home with an acrobatic finish. More questionable challenges ensued on the pitch, leading to a furious touchline with both sets of club staff unimpressed. Things remained 0-2 at half-time. Güler found Mbappé with an inch-perfect pass before the Frenchman rounded Stole Dimitrievski for 3-0. The night worsened for the hosts when captain José Gayà received a straight red card for a harsh challenge on Mbappé. The result means Valencia remain 19th while Real Madrid are tied for first ahead of Barcelona-Atlético tomorrow. It's an eighth win in a row for Los Blancos across all competitions, a feat met for the first time in a single season since September 2022.
