Real Madrid superstar has realised he has lost his place in the starting eleven – report Real Madrid’s recent 3-0 win over Valencia was yet another indicator that the club are working just fine without the presence of star man Vinicius Jr. In what Vinicius’ final game of serving suspension, Real Madrid thrived with Arda Guler, Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe while Yan Diomande also continued his solid form. These performances have put question marks on Vinicius Jr.’s long-term future at the club and a recent report from Diario AS has provided an update on the player’s standing in the team. This is hardly surprising as the forward has scored just one goal in all competitions this season, with his development being further curtailed a four-match domestic suspension which ended after the win over Valencia. Even in the Champions League matches where Vinicius has been available, the Brazilian has made minimal impact and is yet to even score or assist a single goal this season. Vinicius Jr. will be available in La Liga matches after the international break. But at a time when Guler has performed brilliantly and is set for a renewal while Diomande has found his feet at Santiago Bernabeu, Vinicius knows returning to the starting eleven could be difficult. The communication between the Portuguese tactician and Vinicius Jr. has been quite consistent and stable, something that was missing under the leadership of Xabi Alonso during the first half of last season. This has reflected positively on Vinicius, who has more clarity about his place in the team. Mourinho is not afraid of making the tough decisions, but he has defended the Brazilian publicly. For now, neither side is thinking about Vinicius’ future. The more immediate task for the Brazilian international is to return to full form, perhaps after the break. Mourinho has already endorsed the idea of seeing Vinicius in action for Brazil during the international break, so the next few weeks could be crucial.
