Why Barcelona star has been omitted from Germany squad by Jurgen Klopp
Why Barcelona star has been omitted from Germany squad by Jurgen Klopp Earlier in the week, Germany’s new coach Jurgen Klopp announced his final squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches. In what will be the second international break of the season so far, Klopp decided to exclude Barcelona forward Karim Adeyemi. While Barcelona should be happy to have the German at their disposal during the break, it should be quite concerning for the club that the player is no longer being considered by Klopp. Why Adeyemi has fallen out of favour Adeyemi’s fall from grace has been concerning. (Photo by Fran Santiago/Getty Images) As reported by Mundo Deportivo , there are multiple key reasons why Klopp has omitted Adeyemi from the Germany squad and most of them are linked with his fortunes at Barcelona. While the former Borussia Dortmund forward initially had a strong start to life at Barcelona, his form tapered off after the first international break. Since the break, Barça played seven games in total, and out of those 630 minutes, Adeyemi has played only 237 – 37% of the total. In the first eight matches, Adeyemi had scored three goals and provided three assists. In the seven matches after the break, he has scored only one goal, which came against Galatasaray in the Champions League. Important phase for Adeyemi Karim Adeyemi must bounce back to form. The German has been great in providing dynamism for brief spells, but an overall consistency has always been missing, especially after the break. This has led to Hansi Flick himself use him less in crucial matches, with Anthony Gordon now the undisputed starter. The Englishman is expected to start in tonight’s key encounter against Atletico Madrid as well. This doesn’t bode well for Adeyemi, who joined Barcelona to take his game to the next level. The forward, therefore, must prove himself in the coming months if he is to remain a key player for Barcelona for the foreseeable future.
