Barcelona superstar boasts remarkable record at Atletico Madrid’s Metropolitano ahead of La Liga showdown Barcelona face a crucial test against Atletico Madrid on Sunday as Hansi Flick’s men look to return to the summit of La Liga . The Catalan club have ended their two-match losing streak with wins over Deportivo Alaves and Aston Villa. Securing three points against Atletico before heading into the November international break would be massive for Hansi Flick. One player with fond memories of playing at the Metropolitano is Lamine Yamal. Lamine Yamal’s impressive record at the Metropolitano The 19-year-old has made six appearances at Atletico’s home stadium, registering an impressive five victories and suffering just one defeat. (Photo by David Ramos/Getty Images) He has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to contribute in one of the most difficult away fixtures Barcelona face every season. His most memorable contribution came during Barcelona’s extraordinary 4-2 comeback victory in March 2025. With Flick’s men recovering from a two-goal deficit, Yamal scored a dramatic stoppage-time goal to complete the turnaround. The youngster also provided the assist to Lamine Yamal during Barcelona’s 1-0 Copa del Rey semi-final victory in the same season. However, not every visit has gone to plan, with Yamal also being part of the 4-0 defeat in the Copa del Rey last season. Can Yamal deliver another decisive performance? Interestingly, Yamal enters Sunday’s encounter in outstanding form, having already registered 13 goals and 11 assists across all competitions this season. His ability to attract defenders on the wing and dribble past them will be crucial against a compact Atletico. Simeone has always paid special attention to Lamine, assigning multiple players to him to prevent him from receiving the ball in dangerous areas. If that happens tonight, Hansi Flick’s side should use the opportunity to find others, such as Raphinha and Fermin, who can benefit from the extra space. It remains to be seen whether Lamine can continue his excellent record at the Metropolitano with yet another memorable performance tonight.
