Liverpool do not want to rush decision on Barcelona loanee despite talks over January move
Liverpool do not want to rush decision on Barcelona loanee despite talks over January move Ronald Araujo has been nothing short of a revelation in the Premier League, ever since his loan move to Liverpool in the summer. The Uruguayan international, often labelled as an error-prone defender, has fit in incredibly well at Anfield, notably becoming a regular starter in the right-back position. Araujo even won the Liverpool player of the month award in November , with many now believing that the Reds will trigger his €55 million buyout clause. The report suggests Liverpool are in no hurry to make a decision as far as Araujo’s future is concerned. They do not want to activate the buyout clause just yet. The season is long, and the club are looking to wait until the latter part of the season before making any decision. As things stand, given the defender’s current form, Liverpool would be more than happy to pay €55 million to acquire the services of the on-loan Barcelona defender. This comes on the back of recent reports that suggest Liverpool have held talks with Barça over a potential January transfer for Araujo. It was suggested that the Reds were willing to activate the clause in the winter transfer window, but that is not the case, for now. He knows that Barcelona are closely monitoring his progress. Given his affection for the club, one can be forgiven for thinking he would want to prove doubters wrong by coming back to Catalonia. Barcelona, for their part, could have used the services of Araujo given the club’s ongoing injury crisis in the defensive unit. That being said, it does seem likely that Araujo will be headed to Liverpool permanently next season. What remains to be seen is whether he can remain fit and continue his solid performances at the back.
