UEFA have other names in mind, and they’ve been exploring those alternatives whilst also working on persuading Wenger. They’re hoping to announce a candidate by next week at the latest. Since his departure from Arsenal, Wenger has been working for FIFA as their Chief of Global Football Development. The Welsh FA were the first to officially withdraw support for Infantino, confirming they won’t be backing Infantino’s bid for re-election for 2027-2031. The English FA soon followed, and UEFA have also been working on criminal legal action against Infantino for his role in the scrapped World Cup plans. Infantino has historically been more popular in parts of Africa and the Middle East. More importantly, Wenger first has to agree to join the race. He may not want to, and UEFA are seemingly running out of time to convince him. Photo by FRANCK FIFE/AFP via Getty Images
