Gasperini: “My chapter at Roma so far has been wonderful.” Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to journalists on the sidelines of the 2006 Stelle nello Sport Charity Event. “For me, it’s a fantastic opportunity to return to Genoa and see so many friends again. This prestigious recognition is a source of great pride,” he said, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com. “So far in my career Roma has represented a shorter chapter, a year and a half, but still wonderful, we hope to continue on this path. Of course, Rome has much bigger numbers: if you can do well in a city like Rome, the impact is even greater.” “Lazio’s form? It’s certainly a surprise for everyone, but it’s also a source of value and recognition for the city, which is an extraordinary city with a great enthusiasm for football. Roma always has a full stadium, Lazio may have other problems, but in this city, football is experienced with incredible enthusiasm.” “We’ve been competitive for a few months now. We’ve been able to grow in Italy, and we got off to a good start last year too. Last year’s second half of the season was a good one, but this year it’s still early. Eleven games aren’t many, but they’re significant for the team’s performance. The environment gives us great fuel to do well.”
